The design is signature Monaco, right down to the vintage HEUER logo at 12 o’clock. As ahead of its time today as it was when it first appeared on Steve McQueen’s wrist in the race film classic Le Mans.
The Gulf brand’s iconic racing livery adorns this special edition. All the classic Monaco elements are in place: 39 mm case, left-side crown, sunray dial with pearl white counters at 3 and 9 o’clock, date window at 6, vintage HEUER logo at 12.
The Gulf logo is above the date, and Gulf stripes in light blue and orange grace the right side of the darker blue dial. The sapphire crystal is domed and bevelled, like the original. A red lacquered central hand sweeps around the dial.
The piece is completed by a perforated blue leather strap with orange lining and topstitching—another stylish nod to the Gulf legacy, and “King of Cool” Steve McQueen’s robust blue and orange sports car.
Calibre 11 Movement: All TAG Heuer automatic movements are made in Switzerland and must meet extremely strict criteria for precision before they make it onto your wrist. Their high frequency ensures excellent mechanical precision. A number of TAG Heuer automatic movements are awarded an Official Swiss Chronometer Control (C.O.S.C.)
